Tijana Lukovic - Artist & Book illustrator

Tijana Lukovic is a Belgium based artist working as a professional illustrator in Ghent. Her work explores folklore, mythology, fairytales, nature and the worlds in between.

Tijana’s work has appeared in children’s and illustrated books, tarot and oracle decks, journals and other publishing projects, as well as in commercial and packaging design. She has collaborated with publishing houses including Rockpool Publishing, Watkins Publishing and Savanna Books, creating illustrations for a range of books and card decks. Her publishing work includes The Magical Year, written by Cristina Romero and published by Savanna Books; Paula and the Lost Mirror, written by Marije Sennema, published by Utjowerij DeRyp; Forest Friends, published by Rockpool; Seasons of the Witch oracle and tarot projects including Mabon, Imbolc, Litha, Ostara, Lammas and Winter and Autumn Tarot; and The Witch’s Shadow Work Oracle, published by Watkins.

She collaborated with St Eval, creating illustrations for its Christmas fragrance collections and developing artwork that was subsequently adapted into candle and fragrance packaging design. The collaboration has included both the 2024 and 2025 Christmas collections, including illustrated packaging and an advent calendar. 

“My paintings and illustrations are inspired by magical and in some cases even metaphysical realm, they contain traces of folklore, fairy tale, mythology and love for nature woven into everyday life of a mother, book lover or a day dreamer. Celebration of nature and motherhood is often one and the same, intertwined in one moment captured on the painting.
In my work I try to share my observations of the ever-changing seasons and my will to be more in tune with nature and wheel of the year.
Painting is my profession but also a therapy where I explore my inner mind and try to bring up those deep down buried thoughts into the light of my paper. I am facing my fears, illuminating my unconscious mind and walk through the forest of my childhood memories.

For my even love of drawing and painting I earned MFA in both fields.

I love to read and collect books, but never have enough shelves to put them on. They are often scattered all around my home. My favourite writer is Haruki Murakami but I love to read Carl Jung as well as I am very inspired by both of them in my work.”
